The Relationship Between Clarity of Career Goals and Students' Learning Styles

Mon, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D

Abstract

This study took place in an urban community college in the City of New York. A group of 229 Latino students participated in the study. Two (2) learning styles questionnaires were used to identify students’ learning styles— 1) the LSI developed by Kolb (2000), and 2) The PEPS developed by Dunn, Dunn and Price (2003). Clarity of goals was divided into three groups— students who were not clear about their goals, students who were somewhat clear, and students who were very clear about their goals. Results indicated that a difference was found between clarity of career goals and students’ learning styles.
