Tue, April 12, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Room 145 A

Abstract

In order to re-imagine educational research with transformative potential, this research initiates a dialogical project aiming at strengthening pluralist democracies within an aboriginal ethnic community in Taiwan. In this community-based action research, the researchers work with a group of single mothers, who witness the cohesion of community lives has dissipated, and social supports scattered. The collaborative research project is aimed to engage community members to deepen and diversify their understandings of their difficult circumstances. This community-based action research is designed to intervene the plight of the community, and turn their empowerment projects into the force for social innovation. This research reports the democratic possibilities when education is taken as cultural actions for community and cultural subjectivity.
