Formula estimators of validity concentration are specified, and the performance of one formula in tracking the accuracy of non-OLS weighting methods (ridge regression, regression on principal components and equal weighting) was investigated. In addition, the insensitivity of OLS prediction accuracy to both multicollinearity and validity concentration, as well as the enhanced performance of alternative methods in respect to OLS, given validity concentration, were illustrated. Using one of three proffered formulas, the performance of all alternate methods was tracked very accurately; the formula predicted performance perfectly (R2 = 1.0) for all three alternatives. The use of these validity concentration formulas to help decide when to use a non-OLS method is deemed promising.
