Sun, April 10, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section C

Abstract

The effects of a quickly changing society on teaching and learning are central issues in the field of education today. While many scholars have emphasized the importance of global education in today’s interconnected society, few empirical studies have examined the curricular choices and instructional processes that lead to global-readiness. This paper presents findings from a qualitative study of global education experts to move towards an empirically valid theoretical framework of teaching for global-readiness. Findings include integration of global curriculum into existing curriculum, multifaceted curriculum and instructional practices from multiple perspectives and for public and private lives, as well as instruction that is built upon cross-cultural relationships at the student and teacher levels.
