This study is to 1) showcase curricular and pedagogical practices of media education for North Korean refugee youths resettled in South Korea, 2) investigate the impacts of the media education program on their identity construction, and 3) evaluate its implementation for future improvement. Guided by Third Space theory (Bahbah, 1994), and framed within a qualitative research paradigm, this media education program, (i.e., WHY. M.E.), has been evolved in its design and approaches by a group of teaching artists consisted with North and South Korean professionals. Example lesson plans and artifacts will be included in the presentation. Multi-modal data collected throughout the first year was analyzed thematically while focusing on discursive construction of identities of North Korean youth participants.
