Due to the decline of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across the nation, there has been an interest in studying the status of these programs, particularly given the increased demand for CTE K-12 teachers. It has been 15 years since Bruening, Scanlon, Hodes, Dhital, Shao, and Liu (2001) conducted a similar national investigation. In this census study, we examined the status of CTE programs (both undergraduate and graduate) across the nation in terms of certification and licensure offerings; student and faculty characteristics; and programmatic and curricular trends, successes, and issues. Findings indicated continued decline of CTE programs and provide data which should cause major concern for the profession to address as we face the challenges of the 21st Century.
