Teaching Science Content Through Storytelling: Does It Work?

Sat, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D

Abstract

Science and art are interconnected, but in most science classrooms, there is no evidence of art. Research findings have indicated that the art of storytelling has been an effective tool of instruction in the classroom. Is a storytelling instructional design and curriculum effective for teaching rigorous science content? This qualitative research study investigates the connection between storytelling and content knowledge development in students in a inquiry based biology laboratory environment.
