This paper focuses on a high school instructor who uses infographics as a way of bringing into the classroom science data and information which students find relevant in their lives beyond the classroom. The goals of his lessons and activities are to instill science, technology, engineering, and mathematical (STEM) skills. This paper describes the design and structure of activities revealed through case study. Preparatory activities are designed to teach critical thinking and analytical skills; how to identify and locate credible sources, how to read data (such as graphs, charts, formulas, etc.), and good editorial technique. A project unit activity structure for infographics authoring involves a a series of student artifacts with teacher, professional editor, and peer feedback and formal checkpoints
