Ever since LOGO was first introduced in 1967, robotics has assumed an increasingly integral role in STEM education. In the past fifteen years, researchers have taken great initiative in publishing vast quantities of articles demonstrating robotics ability to engender heightened comprehension and interest, namely in fields of engineering, physics, and computing. Whereas earlier studies generally pondered the question of whether educational robots were a mere fad, rather than a truly valuable tool, more recent publications often presuppose their effectiveness, and instead, consider strategies for optimizing the possible benefits of educational platforms. The objective of this paper is to identify, consolidate, and evaluate the most prominent methodologies and goals observed throughout the literature in hopes of providing direction for future studies.
