As in the United States, the education gap for ethnic or minority students in China is a national challenge. In this session, we explore findings from an on-going study examining the beliefs and practices of teachers who have been recognized for their positive impact in addressing this challenging student population. Specifically, classroom observation data regarding instructional activities, cognitive challenge, and student engagement, along with themes from semi-structured interviews, will be shared.
