Research-Practitioner Partnership to Evaluate a Developmental Assessment Framework

Abstract

A research practitioner partnership funded by the Institute for Educational Sciences investigated the impact of an initiative to improve school outcomes. The program, entitled “The Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills” (WaKIDS)” specifically aligned goals and best practices across the P-3 spectrum (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction [OSPI], 2011). Some school districts received enhanced professional development and support throughout the school year, and some districts received a business as usual “one and done” professional development. Utilizing multilevel modeling, we studied the impact of these conditions on student’s literacy outcomes.
