This paper documents the on-going story of educators who began their inquiry into peaceful practice at the Mahatma Gandhi Summer Institute for Building Peaceful Communities at the University of Alberta. It provides an account of their individual and collective journeys as they seek to develop their own approaches to pedagogies of peace. Following from others (e.g. Bickmore, 2006; Joshee, 2004; Joshee & Thomas, 2015) we approach education for peace as a particular form of education for democratic practice. The paper discusses challenges and successes as we seek to clarify our approach to education for peace and to understand our evolving idea of slow peace.
