The Career Academy Model of high schools is increasing in its popularity as schools and entire districts look to this a reform method. However, student voice on this experience and research on wall-to-wall career academy districts is largely non-existent. This paper seeks to trouble the notion in both research and reform of the place of students in family, school, and community partnerships. Drawing from postcolonial theory, the author employs narrative inquiry to examine the experiences of youth in a wall-to-wall career academy district. This research exposes successes, weaknesses, and potentials of this reform model.
