Factors Affecting the Adoption of Mobile Learning Management Systems Among Online Students

Abstract

Higher education institutions have started adopting a mobile technology in order to cope with students’ demands. Regardless of its adoption in higher education settings, researches on and effects of mobile learning is still in the early stages of development. Therefore, this study investigates factors that influencing the adoption of mobile LMS. Data was collected from 1,604 students from an online university in Korea. The logistic regression results show that students’ use of mobile LMS is affected by multi-dimensional characteristics of individual background (age, employment status), psychological factors (self-efficacy, innovativeness, easy of use, usefulness), and external factors (subjective norm). The findings from this empirical evidence offers a better understanding of students’ usage of mobile devices in higher education.
