Assessment Coordinators' Perceptions of the Need for Support in Managing Data to Meet Accreditation Standards

Fri, April 8, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Marriott Marquis, Floor: Level Two, Marquis Salon 7

Abstract

This study examined the perceptions of educator preparation assessment coordinators at higher education institutions regarding support in managing data to meet accreditation standards. Implementing a comprehensive electronic assessment system requires expertise in the field of assessment and standards as well as commitment from all stakeholders. The variation in the results according to employee position (faculty, coordinator, and leadership) and system type (commercial, in-house, and hybrid) was investigated. About 53% (n=112) of participants in this study indicated that they spent less than 50% of their time on data collection, management, analysis, and reporting related to program approval and accreditation efforts. The majority of participants 72% (n=149) reported minimal or inadequate personnel support by their institutions to manage their assessment systems.
