This research highlights the findings of an ongoing research project that seeks to understand the experiences of women with an arts-based background who occupy formal leadership positions in post-secondary Faculties of Education in Canada. The main research question is: How do gender, identity, leadership praxis and arts based practice intersect for women occupying leadership positions in Canadian Faculties of Education? This research addresses the problematic nature of leadership in the academy where women continue to be underrepresented (Robbins and Simpson, 2009). Dissemination builds a community of practice amongst women engaged in educational leadership at the post-secondary level. Participants’ voices are not only documented but contribute to a collective and evolving understanding of the nature of leadership in the academy.
