This research highlights the potential of visioning through digital storytelling in teacher education as a way to prepare teachers for the complexities of the classroom. In this paper we present an overview of a reflective multimedia project and discuss how one teacher candidate’s implicit metaphors of teaching, teachers, and students within this digital story made visible her negotiated and evolving beliefs as she envisioned her future classroom. Analysis of the implicit metaphors Ellie used to in her digital story project revealed tensions between her vision of her students and herself as teacher. Findings suggest that digital storytelling can support teacher candidates to begin to negotiate their professional identity as they explore multiple voices of experience about teaching and learning.
