Tue, April 12, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Three, Ballroom B

Abstract

In recent years, there has been more focus on cross-cultural research, where relationships are studied comparatively in more than one country. The present study will present the results of MGCFA on 36 countries and 58 000 teachers and discuss the implications of having, or not, an invariant measure of the latent professional community concept. In addition, based on partial metric invariance, the strenght of the relationship of professional community participation with school processes, such as distributed leadership and school climate, will be compared across countries. As regards scalar invariance, the conclusion of this study is that future research can validly compare teachers’ average participation in professional community practices only in 24 countries.
