Our first research question was: To what extent is adolescents’ family environment predictive of their dysfunctional individuation, mastery and coping, and superior adjustment? Results revealed that psychological control used by mother (PPCSM) was significantly associated with participants’ dysfunctional individuation, which was significantly associated with adolescents’ mastery and coping, and superior adjustment. And our second research question was: Is the relationship of adolescents’ family environment with their dysfunctional individuation and other negative developmental outcomes moderated by the school climate? Results indicate that, the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescents’ superior adjustment was moderated by the school climate. The better was the school climate the weaker was the negative effect of mother’s psychological control on students’ superior adjustment.
