Abstract

Commentator 3 is an education leader, author and advisor to people working to improve education in K-12 and postsecondary institutions. Previously, Commentator 3 has been a founding dean, an associate professor, and an educational activist.

Commentator 3’s scholarship focuses on education reform and the impact of education policy on community wellness. Commentator 3 has co-authored publications for the Brookings Institution Press as well as a book published by the Harvard University Press. Commentator 3 is a columnist for the Washington Post-PostEverthing section and The Hechinger Report, a nonprofit news organization focused on producing in-depth education journalism. Commentator 3’s views, opinions and educational leadership have been featured on NBC, National Public Radio, Al Jazeera America, The New Republic and CNN.

Commentator 3 brings a deep knowledge of how charter schools can be leveraged to improve broader community objectives including social, economic and criminal justice goals. His experience in higher education, charter schools and governmental agencies enables him to offer a broader, community perspective to the topic. His proposed commentaries will examine intentionally diverse charters from the perspective of critical race theory and equity.
