This qualitative study examined how preservice teachers’ perceptions of modern professional development training compared to traditional face-to-face trainings. To investigate this problem, 85 participants were given a questionnaire using the connected learning theory. Data was collected using a questionnaire available on the C2L website to those attending the online conference. Six main principles were identified and coded within themes. As technology continues to grow in classrooms, teachers must be aware of how to create their own network for monitoring professional developments, workshops, trainings, and social medias used to enhance professional growth. This study provided insight about the value of modern professional development for pre-service teachers entering the teaching profession and knowledge of modern professional development to facilitate professional development trainings.
