Abstract

Following a renewed interest in STEM, science centers’ staff started providing technology enhanced informal STEM education experiences. The purpose of this study was to develop a set of empirically- substantiated guidelines for STEM game design for use within informal environments, such as science centers and museums to enable students to better understand the science concepts within those informal environments. In our approach, we conducted a series of interviews with experts from science center curating and outdoor learning activities development, with the final goal of exploring and improving current learning environments and practices. Using constructivist grounded theory a set of guidelines were developed and presented in this paper.
