There is a disparity in the number of students from diverse backgrounds represented in college preparatory programs. Distance learning programs have increased in popularity in an effort to increase access to students who would otherwise be unable to take college preparatory courses. The purpose of this presentation is to share information gathered through an evaluation of a statewide Virtual Advanced Placement (VAP) program involving 17 schools, districts, and school district consortia who received grant money from the state to support implementing the VAP program. The primary purpose of the program was to increase access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses to students who would have otherwise been underrepresented in AP programs.
