Teaching Doctoral Research Courses in a Blended Setting

Mon, April 11, 11:45am to 1:15pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section C

Abstract

Many Ed.D. Programs are engaged in distance learning as well as well blended learning to blur the lines between in-class and distance for both the instructor’s delivery and the student’s participation. (Dawson, Cavanaugh, Sessums, Black, & Kumar, 2011).Several learning theories suggest that blended learning, a combination of distance and face-to-face learning, has the potential to produce even better results than face-to-face or online learning alone (Kerres & deWitt, 2003). While several Ed.D. Programs are being offered online or through a blended mode of delivery, empirical investigation of the dynamics involving teaching research courses online or in blended mode has not been conducted so far.
