A Random Item Effects Multilevel Multidimensional Item Response Theory Model

Fri, April 8, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Three, Ballroom A

Abstract

This case study introduced a novel random item effects multilevel and multidimensional and illustrated its application using the PISA 2012 mathematics data. Substantial cross-national item parameter variance was detected. In addition, the present analysis also revealed the complex interactive relation of how individuals use different latent abilities simultaneously in solving problems. Evidence from this study suggests the promise of this method in addressing measurement invariance in cross-national assessments and producing more accurate parameter estimates.
