We complicate the conception of the role of anonymity within affinity spaces. We applied social network analysis to study the constructions and interactions among participants who identified themselves as youth or teachers in terms of gaming and learning activities through Minecraft. The findings show that participants' self-identified roles may shape or reshape interactions and structures of discussion in an affinity space.
