In this study, I intend to share my preliminary findings for one of my research questions regarding the experiences from the planning committee of the Literacy Campaign of 1961 in Cuba. I will be describing the curricular issues and the impact of the curriculum in the student’s process of social transformation. The theoretical framework adopted draws upon the Critical Literacy and Critical Pedagogy proposed by Paulo Freire, as well as the 3C’s of knowledge framework presented by Gutstein (2007). My analysis will derive from the primary sources obtained at the Museum of Literacy in Havana, Cuba, and it will be adopting the content analysis of these sources, which will be examined in synchronization with historical context of that time.
