Research has supported that flashcards has a positive effect on foreign vocabulary learning, as the flashcards provide verbal or visual cues for learners to quickly review and recall the learned words (Laufer et al., 2004). However, traditional flashcards do not have audio and video support. On the other hand, E-flashcards incorporate multi-media resources and provide comprehensive support in vocabulary building. According to Tozcu and Coady (2004), the modalities of computer technology, which provides multimedia with verbal, visual, and auditory stimuli, had a positive effect on vocabulary attainment. This current study revealed that through E-flashcards assisted by tablet, 44 Chinese learners demonstrated positive learning attitudes and interests toward Chinese vocabulary learning; moreover, they recalled more words compared to the traditional flashcards.
