As the opt-out movement continues to gain momentum across the country, it warrants analysis as to its role within the current educational policymaking climate. This paper serves to analyze the opt-out movement as parental claimed space, including an examination of the role that parental voice plays in this process. Additionally, this paper discusses the role that neoliberal influences on current educational policy have played in the need for parents to claim space.
