This study reports upon data collected during a year-long ethnographic exploration of a democratic free school. The analysis presented “plugs in” (Deleuze & Guattari, 1987) dis/ability studies (Goodley, 2014) to the data set, while recursively plugging in both the data set and the literature base on radical and alternative education (e.g., unschooling, deschooling, homeschooling, democratic freeschooling, anarchist educational thought, etc.) to Disability Studies in Education (DSE). We thus propose an analysis of our data that simultaneously deschools DSE and dis/ables alternative educational thought in pursuit of a radical reimagining of education as liberatory and emancipatory.
