Conceptualizing a Theoretical Model for Reflection, Instruction, and Self-Evaluation in the Area of Critical Praxis

Mon, April 11, 2:45 to 4:15pm, Marriott Marquis, Floor: Level Two, Marquis Salon 7

Abstract

This paper proposes the need for critical practices in planning, implementing, and evaluating effective teaching and learning, and identifies four considerations of critical praxis: multiculturalism, positioning, critical literacy, and dispositions needed. Additionally, this paper asserts the need for information, training, and reflection in these areas, towards critical praxis. The Critical Praxis Chart is presented as a theoretically-based tool which may guide reflective, instructive, and evaluative practices, including the vetting of literacies for democratic education and the positioning of self and students.
