Mon, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to develop the on-line reading comprehension assessment for junior high school students by adopting the constructs of reading literacy and with the use of information and communication technology. This research used Rasch partial credit model to examine the psychometric properties of this assessment. A total of 1,107 eight graders from junior high schools in Taiwan participated in this study. Evidences regarding rating scale structure (hierarchy, distance, and fit of rating categories), item fit and item appropriateness, measurement invariance (gender DIF), and reliability were collected, and the results supported that the on-line reading comprehension assessment hold the characteristics of an “objective measurement”. Several suggestions with respect to test application and revision were provided.
