Abstract

This research includes findings from a survey on mentoring student teachers and novice teachers documenting the need for mentoring of preservice teacher candidates and novice teachers, establishing current mentoring constructs and components, and providing benefits of mentoring and support programs. We distributed the Survey on Mentoring Pre-service and Novice Educators to 135 participants: 45 student teachers, 64 cooperating teachers, and 20 building level administrators (10 principals and 10 vice/assistant principals) from public school districts in the educational service region of a mid-size public university.
