This is an empirical comparison of classical test theory and Rasch theory applied in the context of early stages of the scale development process to further explore item and person statistics of the scale. Results showed that unlike the CTT, Rasch analysis was able to identify items for which the response scale did not work. Thus, we recommend that researchers use both analytical approaches to validate their scales because using only one of them provides with incomplete information.
