Mon, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section C

Abstract

This study examines the complexity of multimodal composition, asking how multimodal composition when paired with investigative field work such as that done when making documentaries creates a form of embodied inquiry not experienced in other forms of composition, such as writing. Drawing on the work of embodied learning, multimodality and digital video composition, the paper analyzes the digital video composition of high school students documentary film making to gain a deeper understanding of the investigative and collaborative practices involved in multimodal composition.
