In this paper, we address the following questions: What does it means to do research with and for communities to which we are still connected to? How do we leverage our cultural knowledge to gain access to stories? In what ways do we hustle academic institutions to gain space for Black women’s stories to be told? What do our participants – and Black women at large – have to gain from our work? Where do we do harm to ourselves and Black women and where are we complicit in harm that has already been done?
