This paper seeks to present a nuanced vision of Iraqi education from the Al-Qasim period to the present day through an analysis of public records, academic articles, and interviews with recently resettled Iraqi refugees. Through these sources, a fuller vision of Iraqi education emerges that is of use to U.S. educators and citizens who are directly implicated in Iraq’s past, present, and future.
