An Ecological Systems View of School-Museum Partnerships

Abstract

In recent years, schools and museums have engaged in partnerships to expand and actualize student learning. Inquiries into such practices, however, need to be grounded in a theory that can meaningfully guide the design and implementation of future research. In the proposed paper, a social studies oriented school-museum partnership conceptual framework was developed from the theoretical literature and then refined through an analysis of 18 purposively sample empirical school-museum studies.
