The purpose of this study is to examine how the class-based affirmative action policy at a large university (hereafter referenced as Public University) has emerged in the lived experiences described by Black immigrant students. This study is a collaborative effort between authors from two different institutions. Author 1 has studied the literature and policies around this change in affirmative action design, while Author 2 has participated in a qualitative study in which students at this university were interviewed about their experiences. We aim to unite these two efforts to answer the following question: What recommendations for university administration lie at the intersection of a policy discourse analysis of class-based affirmative action and the described campus experiences of Black immigrant students?
