There is abundant literature that suggests how professors in leadership preparation can teach for leadership for social justice. Much of what is written comes from the mainstream culture, which tends to perpetuate hegemonic ideologies and practices. However, the authors of this paper contend that social justice is more than these traditional approaches. We suggest teaching for social justice needs to be embedded throughout a leadership preparation program using the Pedagogy of Collective Critical Consciousness (Freire, 1993) to foster continuous learning for students and professors as they navigate towards the continuum towards social change. Es nuestro conocimiento (AnzaldĂșa, 2002) that we provide an alternative framework to teach leadership for social justice.
