Fri, April 8, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section D

Abstract

The Community Creativity Collective (3-C) is a community-based model of creative curriculum development that combines the knowledge and experience of family and community members and activates them in the classroom. The process derives from scholarly interest in sociocultural creativity and the way that groups in complex and contingent environments construct ideas. Ideational Speed Dating (ISD) is the idea-generation tool used in the collective that leads to emergent curricular approaches. This paper explores the implementation of ISD, the impacts on participants and the unique properties of the process that facilitate creative ideation. Examples of creative properties include Concept Affinity, Concept Symmetry, Concept Disunity and Concept Dismissal. Significance for the fields of creativity studies, community engagement and curriculum development are discussed.
