Magnet school programs are one of the most established forms of school choice. However, recent research on magnet schools is sparse. This study aims to contribute to extant literature by examining magnet student mobility prior to and after enrolling in a magnet school. Because, school choice provides parents with the opportunity to seek higher quality schools, understanding the pre- and post-mobility patterns of these students will provide policymakers with key information about parent decision-making. We find that magnet school students are less likely to make moves between school years when compared to other students in CCSD.
