The present quantitative study examined what factors (e.g., gender, social class, depression in high school, campus racial climate, substance use, religiosity, social life on campus, academic performance, and self-concept) predict depression among Asian American college students. I analyzed a large longitudinal national data from the 2008 Freshmen Survey (TFS) and 2012 College Senior Survey (CSS) conducted by the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) in the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA.The results show that Asian American college students have higher rate of depression compared to their White counterparts. Gender, social class, substance use, religiosity, campus climate, self-concept, and satisfaction with college are significant factors associated with Asian American college students' depression.
