School climate research links school environment factors to student achievement. In particular, relationships are cited as one factor within the scope of school climate research. This study utilizes previously collected data from an equity audit commissioned by a Midwestern school district to examine the perceptions of relationships by students and teachers within a high school. Overall, the study found that student and teacher perceptions vary based on cultural connections, student involvement, parent involvement and trust. These findings suggest that student and teacher perceptions of relationships hold key alignments and misalignments within the same school and play a role in the overall school culture and climate.
