Policy-Related Population Shifts and Teacher Value-Added Model Scores

Tue, April 12, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Three, Ballroom B

Abstract

Value-Added Models (VAMs) are statistical models that require longitudinal data that track student growth to estimate teachers' contributions to that growth (Braun, 2005). However, longitudinal data is usually missing because of mobility, transfers, truancy, absenteeism, or educational policy changes. This study will explore the implications of educational policy changes that cause missing data on teacher VAM estimations.
