Mon, April 11, 7:45 to 9:15am, Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Room 158 A

Abstract

The IMSD program is one of the most successful STEM undergraduate programs in the country, sponsored by the NIH. The IMSD program works to diversify the number of underrepresented students transitioning to Ph.D. programs following graduation. This study explores the impact of the IMSD program on its key stakeholders, students and faculty. Through a mixed method convergent research design, (see figure 1 below), the study explores the ways in which the IMSD program has influenced the academic skill development of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty mentor practices. The aim of this research is to explore the various student-learning outcomes of the IMSD program at a highly selective institution.
