Abstract

The prevalence of fully online and hybrid (combined face-to-face with virtual instruction) higher education courses is a reality which demands that schools of higher education maintain appropriately rigorous and effective learning environments when utilizing those modalities. Across disciplines, higher education programs need to evaluate whether their virtual instructional paradigms are congruent to best practices for effective online learning. During a recent change from a traditional face-to-face EdD to a hybrid Executive EdD, one university reassessed how it would foster the development of soft skills and dispositions This paper examines the overall efficacy of those learning activities directed at fostering students’ collaborative skills and disposition during the first year of its hybrid EdD program.
