Maps of Schools and Markets: Youth Drawing Their World

Abstract

I will present data from a study in which youth drew and narrated maps of their schools and grocery stores (markets). Their maps revealed understandings about economics (Markets) and civics that simultaneously complemented and contradicted economics curriculum and the democratic aims of schools and society.
