Introspective Inquiry: A Reflective Examination of Context and Culture to Strengthen Global Educational Research

Abstract

Given the increased emphasis on globalization in education and the divergent cultures and contexts where inquiry takes place, scholars are urged to tend to the varied nuances of educational research settings. In order for research methods to be more fully representative of the diversity of educational spaces, research approaches will require greater introspection, increased mindfulness, and efforts to gain in-depth understandings. This paper compels scholars to unwrap the cultures and the different contexts of their studies in an attempt to capture the authentic nuances of the varied milieus. Additionally this account encourages researchers to identify with participants and in turn embrace the full essence of participant experiences.
