The Austerity of Finland: Comparing the Good Side of National Character With the Bad Side of an Economic Strategy?

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to explore how current austerity of Finland is affecting education sector and to compare it to the economic situation in the 1990s. One significant different is that the former happened when Finland was not yet the member of the European Union while now Finland has to deal with current economic turmoil and related austerity measures as part of the larger European economic and political area.
